I have always been interested in History. Even as a child, history was my favorite subject in school. Unfortunately, it was not until after I lost both my parents that I became interested in finding out about my family history. When my parents died, I realized that I really did not know much about my family tree. Last year, I gave myself a wonderful Birthday present...a membership to
Ancestry.com! I have enjoyed digging and discovering just who my ancestors were and where they came from. I was under the mistaken impression that most of my ancestors came from
Germany, however; thanks to
Ancestry.com, I have been able to determine
that most of my relatives came from the British Isles.

Ancestry.com makes is so easy to fill in the gaps with their "leaves" which are hints, based on information that you provide. If you know a name or even a place, you can search thousands of records for information about your ancestors. I have been so pleased with Ancestry.com that I plan on renewing my
Annual World Explorer Membership in September.
Recently, Ancestry.com added the 1940 U.S. Census information to it's vast searchable collection of historical records. They now have 25 states and the District of Columbia indexed and searchable, a total of 55 percent of the 1940 U.S. Census population, with more states coming soon!
Thanks to Ancestry.com, I am pleased to offer one of my lucky readers a Ancestry.com genealogy kit, including a 6 month Deluxe U.S. Membership and a copy of Family Tree Maker 2012 for either Mac or PC.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Thank you to Ancestry.com for providing the Genealogy kit as a giveaway for one of my readers and also a copy of Family Tree Maker 2012 to aid in my review. The opinions stated in this post are my own.

I actually know quite a bit, at least on a couple of ancestry 'tracks'. But when my daughter and I were talking about something a few weeks ago, we realized that my maternal grandmother's family is a little less known to us, and we decided that would be the next group we would work on.
